Boot Hill is an early Western cemetery that is located in Ogllala, Nebraska. It is free to visit and has a historical marker and “Trailblazer” bronze statue on site. It was the only official burial ground from 1874 through 1884. Everyone from locals, to railroad workers to outlaws, gunmen and Native Americans are buried at the site which is actually located on a hill.

Ogllala is located just off of I-80 and Boot Hill is well worth the stop for the historical value and colorful history. For more information and historical details on Boot Hill, the Roots Web article “Boot Hill – Tombstone History of Ogllala” by Karyn Stansbery is a good reference point.
