The Buckskin Cemetery is located off of a dirt road going south directly out of Alma, Colorado in Colorado’s high country near Leadville and Breckenridge. The cemetery is located on the side of a mountain amidst the wilderness, accessible via dirt road when the snow pack isn’t too high. Filled with graves from all eras dispersed among the aspens and pines, the view of mountains tops from the cemetery are unparalleled and stunning.

The Buckskin Cemetery in Alma is probably one of our favorite cemeteries. We spent a lot of time here looking at graves and enjoying the peace, beauty and serenity of the location. We had recently lost our beloved beagle Rascal, and Roscoe and us hadn’t found each other yet, so Alli was our sole Minnesota Road Hound on this trip. She also really enjoyed being able to run around in the woods and get her fill of wilderness smells. We look forward to the next time we can visit this beautiful area.
